Used as a soil amendment and fertilizer, it contains about 10% total potash (0.2% soluble), along with iron, magnesium, silica and as many as 60 other slow-release trace minerals. It improves plant health, increases the soil's capacity to retain water and nutrients permanently, and helps loosen heavy soils. Listed for use in organic production.
This comes from its unique mineralogy: a high capability to retain water and nutrients in solution, plus a high cation exchange capacity, which lets it hold small amounts of nutrients essential for plant growth.
Suggested Application
Spread Super Greensand evenly over the entire area. It works best when incorporated into the soil before seeding or planting.
- Lawns: 44 lb per 1,000 sq ft. Water thoroughly.
- Flowers & vegetables: 10 lb per 1,000 sq ft.
- Roses & shrubbery: 20 lb per 1,000 sq ft.
- Citrus & trees: Spread under the tree canopy at 10 lb per 1,000 sq ft. Work into the soil and water thoroughly.
- Field crops: 100-300 lb per acre. For annual maintenance, use 50-200 lb per acre or according to needs based on soil quality.
