About This Product
BioMaculata™ (Coleomegilla maculata), also known as the pink spotted lady beetle, is a voracious predatory beetle used for biological pest control. Both larvae and adult beetles act as aggressive natural predators against major aphid species—including pea aphids, green peach aphids, cotton aphids, cabbage aphids, and potato aphids. In addition to aphids, BioMaculata actively preys on spider mites, whiteflies, and the eggs or larvae of moth and beetle pests like diamondback moths and Colorado potato beetles.

Key Benefits & IPM Integration
- Dual Life-Stage Predation: Both active larvae and adult beetles aggressively hunt and consume soft-bodied agricultural pests.
- Preventative & Curative Control: Able to survive on plant pollen and nectar when pest pressure is low, allowing for early preventative releases in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.
- Broad Crop Compatibility: Safe and effective for use in commercial greenhouses, indoor grows, nurseries, and open-field production across vegetables, berries, ornamentals, and cannabis.
- Non-Target Safe: Leaves no chemical residues and will not damage foliage, blooms, or crop quality.
Available Formats & Application Options
BioMaculata is packaged in breathable containers with coco coir husks (available in 0.3 L, 1 L, and 1-gallon sizes). Choose between adult beetles or active larvae based on your infestation level:
- Adult Beetles: Available in quantities of 250, 1,000, or 5,000 count. Ideal for rapid dispersion and flight across broader canopy areas.
- Larvae: Available in quantities of 1,000 or 5,000 count. Ideal for targeting localized, high-density pest hotspots.
Release Instructions
- Release Window: Release predators within 24 hours of receipt for maximum viability and effectiveness.
- Mixing: Gently rotate containers end-over-end prior to opening to distribute insects evenly throughout the carrier media.
- Distribution: Remove the container lid and place the jar directly near high-pest areas, or walk through crop aisles tapping the container lightly to encourage flight onto plant foliage.
- Sunlight Protection: Avoid releasing in direct midday sunlight or extreme heat.
Storage & Handling Protocols
- Temperature Control: Maintain cold chain storage between 57°F and 60°F until ready for release. Do not freeze.
- Container Orientation: Store containers horizontally in a cool, dark location away from direct sunlight.
- Finality of Order: Live beneficial insects are custom-reared upon order placement. As a result, live insect orders cannot be cancelled, returned, or refunded once processed.
