Calcium Sulfate for Soil Structure and Fertility
Agricultural Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate, CaSO4) is a versatile soil treatment that works as an amendment, conditioner and fertilizer. As a high-quality source of calcium and sulfur, it helps improve soil structure and fertility across a range of conditions.
Key things we want you to know
Best for: Heavy, waterlogged or sodic soils, where it improves clay structure, drainage and root development.
Why powdered: Micronized Terra Alba (98% calcium sulfate dihydrate) works at lower rates than non-soluble gypsum, but applied more often. Prefer a granular form? See Granulated Agricultural Gypsum.
Rates: 50 to 400 lb per acre, or 1 to 10 lb per acre foliar. It can also be used for fertigation.
Certifications: WSDA Organic Input Material
Ideal for heavy, waterlogged or sodic soils, gypsum improves the structure of clay-bound soils, promotes better drainage and root development, and supports long-term soil health and sustainability in both garden and field applications.
